The last two weeks

Blake has become a pro at walking now. He started taking steps on his own a few weeks ago, but now he's flying. We still have to keep an eye on him because he'll take off running and step on something and splat! He's down. I love how he walked with his hands in fists in front of him, which is why he didn't want us holding his hands to help. That made him nervous. However, lLately he's been comfortable enough to reach up and take my finger in his little hand. That just melts my heart. =) Love it.

We pulled out the baby pool for the first time this year, which was a whole new world for him compared to last summer (when we had to hold him upright from falling over). He LOVES being outside, so I can tell that we'll be spending alot of time in the backyard this summer with this pool. (Dakota loves the pool as well.) =)

Last weekend I got a phone call about my sweet Uncle Bob. He lost his battle with cancer. Living so far away, I just got updates on how he was doing over the last few months. It was a difficult road for him and his family, as I'm sure it is with any family dealing with cancer.

We took a quick trip up to Arkansas for the funeral. Here is Blake in the car on the drive up. Tired little man. Car trips are not as easy as they used to be with him. He's a little more fidgety these days.

During the service, Dalton took Blake down the hall to a kids play area so that I could stay with my family. He took a picture of Blake is his cute outfit crawling around on the equipment...

Although the occasion was sad, it was good to see so many family members that I don't see often enough. Cousins, aunts and uncles, and my dad and brother (here's a great pic of Kevin. Sorry Kevin, you asked for it). =)

Here is sweet Kate feeding her little cousin, the newest extended member of the family. This is Fiona (8 weeks old).

And my aunt and cousins who live in Boise! Haven't seen them in 10 years. Waaay too long! So good to catch up.

Blake got to have a little play time with Adria one night. She shared her fort with him, which he thought was SO cool. He kept walking in to it, then laughing histerically (although in this picture, he just looks scared). =)

Just to close this posting with a funny picture...Blake likes to help me water the plants in the backyard. Here he is with his weights pumping some iron. =) One day he found this wheel base and its been his favorite thing to carry around outside ever since.

Here is a video clip that we took of Blake on the 2nd or 3rd day of his walking progression (this is for the grandparents). He was learning quickly!
